At HER Shelter, we believe every family deserves to gather around a full table and celebrate the season with warmth, dignity, and hope. This Thanksgiving, we’re hosting our Thanksgiving Food Drive to collect items that will help local families in need enjoy a nourishing holiday meal.
We are accepting non-perishable food items and essentials to create complete Thanksgiving meal boxes for our clients and families in the community. Requested donations include:
Thanksgiving Meal Essentials
Frozen turkeys or gift cards for turkey or ham
Canned ham or chicken
Boxed stuffing mix
Instant mashed potatoes or fresh potatoes
Turkey or chicken gravy (cans or packets)
Canned cranberry sauce
Canned sweet potatoes or yams
Mini marshmallows
Canned or frozen green beans
Cream of mushroom soup
Fried onions (for green bean casserole)
Canned corn or mixed vegetables
Dinner rolls or biscuit mix
Butter or margarine (shelf-stable if possible)
Desserts & Baking Needs
Pumpkin pie filling
Pie crusts or mixes
Canned fruit (peaches, pears, pineapple, etc.)
Brown sugar
Flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda
Cake mixes and frosting
Hot chocolate mix or apple cider packets

Peanut butter & jelly
Rice or pasta
Dry beans or lentils
Cereal or oatmeal
Shelf-stable milk
Canned soup, chili, or stew
Canned tuna or chicken

In addition to this collection, HER Shelter will host another Thanksgiving Food Drive on November 24, focused on collecting perishable donations such as turkeys, hams, and grocery cards to complete each family’s holiday meal.
Every donation helps provide comfort and care to survivors and families in need this holiday season.
